Driving to school early one morning through a thick blanket of fog was no easy feat. My white knuckles told the story...I was using the brake lights ahead as a point of reference. I suspect that the tractor trailers flanking my small hybrid car were doing the same. The year is ending on a fermata of uncertainty rather than in a decisive grand finale. Governmental promises of relief remain on hold and the storms have been fierce. Yet through all of 2022, The Captain is still positioned at the helm of the ship. God asks us to trust Him even when we can only see the faintest outline of His hand. The word "UNPRECEDENTED" was not coined because of COVID. There is absolutely nothing that catches God by surprise.
I am averse to flying because I don't like heights, and, frankly, the thought of turbulence makes me queasy. But a seasoned pilot learns to trust his/her training and instruments in stormy conditions with low cloud coverage and poor visibility. Likewise, there are moments where we must trust our training and foundation (The Word of God) instead of our feelings. When we are living in the "in between" we should seek the Lord fervently and fight through the fog, because destiny waits just behind the turbulence. A good friend of mine who is now in Heaven often encouraged me with his country brand of wisdom: "Wendy, put your foot in the air and trust God to put the floor underneath it because you stepped out in faith!"
December is one of the foggiest months of the year and we need a brilliant light to guide us through the fog. Ancient seafarers relied on lighthouses as their faithful point of reference through the dimness, yet the sound of the foghorn signal was often even more important! The voice of God is a constant compass when confusion is closing in. Since the Garden of Eden, the fog of disobedience led to dysfunction and directional disorientation; this cloud thickened with every subsequent generation. The Star of Bethlehem was an intense light that cut through the haze and led to a destination where hope was born! They called Him "Emmanuel." In a broken world with zero visibility, stay close and follow His light.
1 Corinthians 13:12 (NLT) Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.
Our faith is based on trust. The light in the darkness. God‘s surety in uncertain times. Thanks for reminding me, Wendy.
Very nice! Thank you 😊
Another great message. Thank you!
